Position Overview
The company is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead its customer experience platform — spanning a Flutter mobile app, a React/Next.js web platform, and critical user journeys including discovery, retention, and order flow. This is a high-impact role blending technical leadership, product thinking, and team building. The successful candidate will own frontend and mobile excellence end-to-end, working closely with product, design, growth, and backend teams to deliver seamless experiences at scale.
Role & Responsibilities
- Build, mentor, and lead a team of frontend (React/Next.js) and mobile (Flutter) engineers across multiple workstreams
- Own the architecture, scalability, and reliability of the frontend and mobile platforms, setting best practices for code quality and maintainability
- Drive performance improvements across Core Web Vitals (LCP, CLS, INP), app crash rates, and ANRs to ensure a best-in-class user experience
- Partner with product and growth teams to optimise the full order journey — browse → cart → checkout → post-order — and retention funnels
- Translate business goals into technical roadmaps, manage delivery timelines, and ensure high-quality, on-time releases
- Own observability across platforms — logs, metrics, dashboards, and alerts — and drive fast incident resolution for user-facing systems
- Align frontend/mobile architecture with backend APIs and ensure design system consistency across web and app platforms
Must Have Criteria
- 8–10 years of total software development experience with a strong frontend or mobile engineering focus
- 2+ years of experience managing or mentoring engineering teams of 4+ engineers
- Strong hands-on experience with React and Next.js, including server-side rendering and SEO optimisation
- Hands-on experience with Flutter for cross-platform mobile app development
- Proven track record of building and scaling high-traffic consumer-facing applications (1L+ DAUs or equivalent scale)
- Deep understanding of web performance metrics (Core Web Vitals) and mobile performance (crash rates, ANRs, app startup time)
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, monitoring tools such as Firebase and Sentry, and cloud infrastructure on AWS
Nice to Have
- Experience with A/B testing frameworks and growth funnel optimisation in a consumer internet product
- Background in e-commerce, health-tech, or D2C consumer apps with high-frequency transactional flows
- Experience building or maintaining a shared design system across web and mobile platforms
- Prior experience at a fast-scaling startup (Series A to Series C stage) with ownership of a full product vertical
