Position Overview

We are looking for a Backend Engineer with deep Java and Spring Boot expertise to build and own mission-critical microservices that power our consumer AI platform. You will design scalable, high-availability systems handling massive traffic at India scale. This role spans L5 (senior IC owning complex service systems) and L6 (architect-level, defining platform scalability strategy).

Role & Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy production-grade microservices using Java and Spring Boot with high availability and data consistency guarantees
• Develop reliable REST and async APIs supporting complex, high-traffic consumer AI workflows
• Optimize system performance through latency reduction, throughput improvements, and efficient asynchronous processing pipelines
• Identify and resolve scaling bottlenecks in production distributed environments serving 100M+ users
• Own end-to-end production services — from architecture and implementation to monitoring, alerting, and incident resolution

Must Have Criteria

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience with Java as the primary language
• 3+ years of hands-on experience building production microservices with Spring Boot
• Proven experience designing and operating distributed systems handling high-traffic workloads (specify scale in resume)
• Demonstrated track record of optimizing API latency and throughput in production environments
• Experience with asynchronous processing systems (e.g., Kafka or similar message queues)
• Hands-on ownership of production services including on-call, incident response, and root cause analysis
• Independently owns complex service systems, driving technical design and delivery end-to-end
• Architects backend platforms, defines scalability strategies, and leads cross-team initiatives for platform evolution

Nice to Have

• Experience building backend systems for consumer-facing apps at 10M+ user scale
• Exposure to AI/ML platform backends — model serving, inference APIs, or orchestration layers
• Prior experience at a high-growth startup or scaleup with fast iteration cycles
• Familiarity with observability tooling (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, distributed tracing)
