Position Overview

We're seeking a Distributed Systems Engineer with deep expertise in designing, building, and operating production-grade systems that power data at scale. You'll work on core infrastructure that enables modern data platforms to function reliably and efficiently in high-stakes environments.

Role & Responsibilities

• Design and architect distributed systems handling massive data workloads with high availability and performance
• Build and optimize production-grade infrastructure for data processing, storage, and orchestration systems
• Implement comprehensive reliability engineering practices including monitoring, alerting, and incident response procedures
• Perform capacity planning and performance tuning to ensure optimal system operation under varying loads
• Troubleshoot complex distributed system issues and implement preventive solutions for future stability
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable infrastructure solutions meeting business requirements
• Maintain and continuously improve existing distributed systems infrastructure and operational procedures

Must Have Criteria

• 4-10 years of hands-on experience building and maintaining distributed systems in production environments
• Expert-level experience with Apache Kafka for real-time data streaming and message processing
• Strong proficiency with PostgreSQL for relational data management and query optimization
• Proven experience with Apache Spark for large-scale data processing and analytics workloads
• Production experience with Kubernetes container orchestration and cluster management
• Demonstrated expertise in performance tuning, capacity planning, and reliability engineering practices
• Deep understanding of distributed system failure modes, tradeoffs, and behavior under high load

Nice to Have

• Experience with cloud-native infrastructure and microservices architecture patterns
• Background in building AI/ML infrastructure or data platform solutions
• Previous experience at high-growth startups or deeptech companies
• Open source contributions to distributed systems or infrastructure projects
