Position Overview

We're looking for a Backend SDE-1 who is hungry to learn and build on real-world production systems. You'll work closely with senior engineers to develop backend services, own smaller modules end to end, and grow into larger responsibilities over time. This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to grow fast in a high-ownership startup environment.

Role & Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs with guidance from senior engineers
• Deliver features end-to-end for well-scoped problem statements across the product
• Write clean, tested, and maintainable code and actively participate in code reviews
• Collaborate with frontend, product, and design teams to ship customer-facing features
• Debug production issues and contribute to system stability, logging, and monitoring
• Contribute to improving backend performance, query optimization, and caching strategies
• Learn and apply engineering best practices, system design fundamentals, and scalable architecture patterns

Must Have Criteria

• 1–3 years of backend development experience in any language (Node.js, Java, Go, Python, etc.)
• Demonstrated ability to build and ship backend services or APIs in a professional or project setting
• Working knowledge of PostgreSQL — writing queries, understanding indexes, and basic schema design
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs
• Solid understanding of core CS fundamentals — data structures, algorithms, and OOP concepts
• Familiarity with Git for version control and collaborative development workflows

Nice to Have

• Prior experience at a B2C consumer tech or health-tech startup
• Exposure to AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda) or containerization using Docker
• Basic understanding of caching concepts using Redis
• Familiarity with message queues or event-driven architecture (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ)
